Long story short, me and my friends are desperate to jam but my buddy's bass amp broke. My DeVille has 2 inputs for 2 guitars and I was wondering if it would work at all as a temporary fix to plug his bass into my amp. I would test it out but he lives a while away and we both live even farther from our drummer's house so it would be a hassle to do all that travelling with our gear for it not to work.

Pleas and Thank you.

The amp itself may fare fine with a bass but you'll be notifying an undertaker to come embalm your speakers afterwards. However, if you connect a bass-capable cabinet to your HRD (totally disconnecting the amp's internal speakers) you should be okay.

Best of luck

This triggers my curiosity. Will the new '59 Bassman RI's speakers (4-10" Jensen® P-10R) stand up to bass frequencies, and if so, does the amp sound good w/ a bass?

I originally bought the HRDvl 4x10 thinking that it could also double as a bass amp, as it had the 4x10 cab like the Bassman. I could not get good tone at all using a bass guitar with the amp, especially the real deep, kidney-punching bass wasn't there. In comparison, a 200 watt, SS, Acoustic bass amp with a 15" speaker gave thunderous, wall-shaking low end. I don't know any bass players that use a Bassman as a bass amp.
