I found a great used USA HRD today for a sweet deal. It was made in Oct. of 1996. The tubes are the stock Fender not GT. It sounds great but it breaks up too early for me. I have found a dealer on Ebay that has a set of premium JJ tubes and says it will make this amp sparkle like crystal. I going to get the set. It should be a excellent improvement. I have only been able to play my Dean Palomino (Pictured) and my Fender Blacktop through it. My HSS Strat is in the shop getting a GFS Mean 90 installed at the Bridge. I can't wait to hear what thats going to sound like. Now my practicing will be more enjoyable. I've wanted one of these for sometime but didn't have the cash. I sold some stuff on CL to fund it. So I'm happy and the little lady is happy.
Sorry for the crappy pic,my lighting downstairs is dim.

Congrats on the new amp. Mine was made in Oct, '97 and still enjoying it with the original GT output tubes. :D

You might be getting some of the "early breakup" from a cold bias on the output tubes. I would definitely check the bias before changing tubes. Of course checking the bias with new output tubes is a must, especially when switching tube brands.

It might be better to buy tubes directly from Eurotubes if you want JJs. I don't see an advantage in buying tubes from eBay. There is also a video on the Eurotubes site showing how to set the bias.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.
