Hi,

I own a fender 59 bassman ltd reissue 4x10 combo.

I have owned it for over 2 years now. But never noticed this... tell me if this is right or wrong.

I don't get any volume on the amp until the volume control is on just under '3'. Is this right? As a friend has told me I should get volume from '1'... For gigging I have to have the amp on about 5,6 at the very most but some folk are saying why have I got it on that high.

If someone can help on this, that would be much appreciated...

Thanks,
JB

Sounds normal.

Keep in mind that "1" on this amp represents "off" as far as the pot is concerned. It is turned all the way down. Due to the shape of the pot response curve, it needs to be turned up a little bit for any usable volume to be created.

Now what you didn't say is how loud the amp is at 5 or 6. It should be pretty loud. If not, it may be time for a checkup and new power tubes. The LTD has an adjustible bias pot which should be checked to make sure the power tubes are operating in their optimum range.

Hi johnburton,

Is it the same on both channels, and each input on both channels? Which tube types are in V1 and V2, 12AT7, 12AU7, 12AX7?

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

That is the stock configuration. The original amp used a 12AY7 in V1.

You're welcome.

FYI: My Blues Deluxe Reissue doesn't really make any usable noise until the volume knob is somewhere between 2 and 3. Same with my Champion 600 and Frontman 25R. Of course, some people say that with my playing my amps don't make any usable noise at 10 (or 12), they just make noise.
