Bought a deville 212 III, turned it On with standby, waited 30 seconds and then on with guitar plugged in. Cord was short so I lifted amp and moved it about 4 inches..made a very loud noise...is that the spring reverb....did I damage my amp..the tubes were still cold since I had just turned it on. thanks

Hi BillJones,

That was my first guess, reverb. The inside of the tank is held in place by small springs, and moving it will shake the inside around a little. If the amp is shaken, or struck, the insides can actually hit the side of the tank and you'll get a "crashing" sort of sound with a little echo on it. Usually the tank is fine, but a sharp enough hit and the springs can come loose inside. I doubt if you caused any damage while moving it, despite the horrendous noise. Just put in standby for a minute before moving. I take it that your amp and reverb sound OK now?

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

Yep, I agree. The 'verb tank springs were bouncing around in there. This also happens when the singer gets too drunk and starts having a temper tantrum on stage and starts stomping around and tripping on cables. (Sometimes I hate singers)

Just so you know, 30 seconds is, in my opinion, too short of a warm up time. Try 60 seconds as your new minimum. Use the time to double check the state of tune on your guitar.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
