Hello all-

I've been thinking about a Blues Junior but my internet searches have led me across the Peavey Delta Blues 115 amp. Does anyone have any personal experience with the Delta Blues and how does it compare tonally to the Blues Junior (size differences and tremolo effect notwithstanding)?

Thanks-
Steven

The Peavey Delta Blues 15 is the better-built amp and it offers sonic flexibility and effects that the BJr does not have. It also seems to project and cut through a mix more commandingly.

Thanks, Arjay.

Do you know if the Delta Blues has a master volume control? I am looking for something to gig with but it will see a lot of "at home" practice as well. I'd like something that I can crank the gain, but still be able to play at low volume levels.

Delta Blues is a two channel amp. For the lead channel, there are pre- and post-gain controls, so you can get drive at lower volumes as well as when cranked. Of course it will sound better cranked up a little, you eventually lose some drive at very low volumes.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

The Delta Blues is way more amp than the BJ, period. 4 EL84 vs 2, so you'll have plenty of power. A buddy gigs with his 2x10 and it is one sweet sounding amp! I actually like the overdrive on the Delta, I find it very useful. And unlike the BJ, you'll never get lost in the mix...

+1

The 1 x 15 version sounds quite beefy as well -- even better after replacing the OEM speaker with a vintage Jensen C15N.

The Delta Blues is a seriously cool amp and blows the Blues Jr right off the stage even in stock form. The 15" speaker sounds awesome. A Jensen C15N is even more awesome! Better built and an outstanding value.

I had a borrowed one for a week, and although it is more powerful than the Blues JR, I didn't like the sound of 15inch speaker. Hooking it up to 12 sounded much better to me (more focused). I thought if I ever got one I would go for the 2x10.
It could be the stock speaker just isn't my bag, or I just prefer the sound of a 12.
It is much bigger than the JR obviously.

15's can sound a bit unfocused and loose if you always used 10's or 12's. I like that swampy sound you get from them. If you put a better 15 in there, it really shakes things up. It really boils down to your guitar, playing style and your sonic expectations. It's bigger than the Blues Jr, but you won't get that boxy sound from it at higher volumes.
