Can anyone tell me how to remove the jewel from a champ 30 amp? The new one is threaded but the one in the amp seems to be mounted permanently. Please help.

I noticed that some of the newer styles of fenders have a jewel that is fastened in the back with a nut and washer and so you have to open up the amp to get to them and the replacement jewel you bought will most likely not work.

the old ones just easily unscrewed from the front and made a color change a two minute deal.

My Cyber twin was the same way and so I was stuck with the red jewel.

The Champion 30 (and other solid-state Fenders) have a jewel ight that looks vintage, but has a modern LED inside. You cannot take the "bulb" out, or change the color of the jewel like you can on the tube amps.

Sorry to bring back an old discussion, but...

Is this the same for the SCXD? I was hoping to get a different jewel for mine (you know, to enhance the tone), but it sounds like that isn't going to happen.

Yeah, sort of. It doesn't seem to twist off from the outside, so I thought I'd ask before I broke something. I have not looked inside to see if there is a nut holding it on. I'm a noob, and it seems like it could be a headache removing parts to get at, when one of you guys may have already tried and would be willing to share the knowledge.
