Rarely I see pieces of salt-and-pepper cloth on Ebay -- it's not too common though.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out. Is it advertised and "salt-and-pepper" or is there a more recognised nomenclature?

BTW, I like the quote in your signature. Truer words were never spoken.

It's usually described in a listing's title as "Supersonic/salt-and-pepper" IIRC.

Take a look at this cloth......

Good find. That could be what I'm after but it's hard to tell from the photo. They took a lousy picture with bad lighting.

This paragraph seems to confirm that it's the grill cloth you're interested in......

Up for auction is a brand new yard of genuine Fender "pepper" grill cloth commonly found on the SuperSonic and other vintage Fender amps. This is for a 36"x36" piece, if you need a few consecutive yards or even a taller piece, just message me. It is very hard to get an accurate depiction of this cloth but it but to get a better idea please visit this URL: http://www.musicplayers.com/reviews/gui ... -Sonic.jpg

If you click on the above link it takes you to a pic of a Supersonic combo with the salt-and-pepper grill cloth.
