If you mean the silly r103 resistor cut, yes did that next to useless change to both our BDRI's. That resistor cut only reduces the treble boost to the reverb circuit at low volume, at higher volumes it is not effective.

The BDRI's have a tone all their own, and it is not the sparkley clean fender is known for.
Best tone improvement we made to our bdri was to replace them :)

The hot-rods are not bad low cost budget amps, but if you are serious about your music look elsewhere.

The simple removal of one resistor greatly improves the reverb on a BDRI.

I found the mod to be quite effective, making a noticable difference throughout the control range. It doesn't turn the reverb into a standalone three-knob Fender reverb, but no one claimed it did.

Guess what? The BDRI is not supposed to have the same "sparkly clean" tones of a Twin Reverb/Deluxe Reverb. It was never designed for that purpose. If you bought it for that, you made the wrong choice, which you have apparently rectified.

Well, I took all your advice and I've played everything I could put my hands on over the past 2 weeks. Nothing really excited me until I plug into a Blues Deluxe Reissue and when I did---OMG. I strumed about 5 chords and new I was going to buy this amp. IMO it's sounds even better than the DRRI. In fact, it sounds better than anything out there. It's a little heavier and a little more powerful than I need but what the heck. I'm in love with this amp and can't see ever replacing it. Thanks for the advice given.

Good deal. Now do a search on my posts on recommendations for better tubes and bias adjustment to get the best out of that amp. Have fun. :D

OK Rock Star, Found your tube suggestion. Right now I'm going to play whats in it and and see what it sounds like once it's broke in. But I got to say, I really like the way it sounds just stock. When it comes time for tube maintenance, I'll change them out to your suggestion and see what it sounds like. Thanks. ROCK ON!!!!!

I can vouch for his tube suggestions. It makes an already great, even greater. I did change it up a as this is my lineup:

V1- NOS JAN GE 12AY7
V2- JJ ECC803S
V3- NOS JAN Philips/Sylvania 12AT7

Gotta crank it a little as the V1 & V3 NOS tubes really have cut the gain, but I love it. JMO.

Thanks, bluesman1904. A reduced volume would be OK since I can't crank it over 1 1/2 at the house or the windows will break. Probably won't dial above 2 on some of the small gigs. I need to keep that clean, mellow, jazz tone though.

I normally play mine at "6" and control things with the guitar. :D
