So using a 12ay7 in V1, and a 12at7 in V3 would then give an even lower gain level, thus creating more headroom? If so, I like that! And using a 5751 in V2, would lower gain level even more, right? I'm not really interested in the gain channel, as I'm using an OD pedal for gain, so I'm looking for the most headroom. I guess I'm just wanting to be different, but don't want to over do it though.

This is for bluesky636:
Have you ever ran you BDRI without a 12ax7 in any position? What about using a NOS tube for all 3 preamp positions? I've been checking out KCA, some of the NOS tubes are reasonably priced to put in all positions. Or is not recommened?

You could try it, but I think that would be overkill. You would end up with the amp cranked up almost to the max to get any kind of volume out of it. There is a point of no return.

I buy all my NOS tubes from KCA. Mike lives only a few miles from me. I have met him and found him to be a very nice guy regardless of how he may come across sometimes on the Gear Page. Kind of like me in that sense.
