Here's a question regarding the treble & bass tone control functions on a Super Champ XD.

Do they work by cutting frequencies, that is, with 10 providing all of the signal, reducing to none of the signal at 0?

Or do they work more like an equalizer, with 5 being a flat, line-in, neutral signal, enlarging from 5 to 10 & reducing from 5 to 0?

Thanks in advance!

Even if I think it's like standard amp, it is difficult to make sure as far as it is "numeric or digital" signal processing:

Hello,

Do you get a peak of bass response with the bass knob at 7? My SCXD has this behaviour and then loses bass after 7 until 10.... Wondering if you notice the same...?

Took me 5 minutes to even find the tone "stack".

I'd be willing to bet that there is a setting to emulate the traditional Blackface tone stack, but beyond that, who knows.

To answer the OP's quesion, most guitar amp tone controls are passive and do not have a true "flat" setting in the same context as a hi-fi amp does. If you want to learn more about guitar tone stacks, read these:
