I looked at both. The Blues Junior has a much bigger speaker - 12" - and bigger cabinet with reverb and a preamp. With the volume for the preamp adding gain, you can fatten up into a great blues tone with low volume. Also, the BJ's got tons of bass and is very responsive to picking. You can also take it up for a real Trower kind of tone with the preamp to 11 and the fat switch in, and still stay real clean if you roll down the tone knobs on the guitar to like 3 or so.

Go for the BJ cos if you change your mind it won't be so hard to save for the champ 600 later on.

go with the Blues Junior, because it actually has more than enough volume to play in many places,
not just @ home!
:)

So I got the BJ in Black, I A/B the Champ vs. the BJ and you know how those megastores have everybody playing at the same time. I got the BJ @ 20% off sale.

But you might get a little annoyed at this comment, I think I like my
GDec-30 just as much if not more. But again I'm a little tired now so I have all weekend to compare.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

yeah: I paid $449.99 for my new BJ, and they gave me a free Elixer Instrument cable too!(40 bucks) I boycott all guitar center outlets: but its easy because in Wichita, there are 5 killer music stores which have been in business since the 50s or 60s which kick $@!: in fact: wail on Guitar Center: one of the store owners took out a full page ad in the local paper citing that he will BEAT any price on any equipment they have: just to spite them: cuz he can: he's been a top 10 gibson dealer for online sales since 1994. lol

ALSO:

The BJ can be modded to do ANYTHING.
its perfect for mods:

i will first mod the bias for the tubes, because they come too hot for longevity: then i will mod the hell outta the preamp and get some Orange/Black sound on a new channel!
