It may be a microphonic tube issue. To diagnose (after ruling everything else out), gently tap on the glass envelope of each tube with a chopstick, popsicle stick, wooden pencil, or other probe made of dielectric material while the amp is on and the volume is up. Loose elements within a tube will generally cause some audible "pinging" or static that will be amplified and reproduced by the loudspeaker. Use caution while working on or around an energized amp chassis.

If it is the cab rattling, do you know any tricks to stop it or lessen it?

I don't, specifically, but we have two other forum members ("bluesky636" and "shimmilou") who are very experienced with this particular amp and its various pecadillos. Hopefully one of them will weigh in with additional troubleshooting tips.

My new Eminence C-Rex just came in the mail today and after installing it all problems have been solved! I only can assume that it was the stock Jensen speaker. When I would push on the cone of the Jensen it would make a squeaking noise and I assume that the squeak was being amplified when the amp was in use. I also tightened every screw in the cab as much as I could without stripping them.
For those of you that are considering purchasing an Eminence C-Rex I would highly recommend it! It has such a warm clean tone, much better than the quack of the Jensen. I can only imagine how great it will sound when it is nice and broken in!

Thank you again to everyone's input on this thread!

I thought my Blues Jr. was a piece of s**t, but now with the new speaker it sounds amazing, no buzzing or rattling at all

Smooth!

It sounds like that OEM Jensen's voice coil was deformed, due to excessive heat or perhaps it was a factory defect.

Glad it all worked out -- the C Rex's are tasty loudspeakers.
