I have a new Champion 600. Ive changed the speaker cloth with a acoustically invisible material. Ive also changed the Chinese 12AX7 with a Fender P.N. 099-4024-000 12AX7/7025 tube made in Russia. my problem is this: about 3 days after I got this amp it started to emit the "bacon frying" noise after about an hours worth of playing time. Any Idea on how to eliminate this problem?

Try putting the old Chinese 12AX7 back into the socket and see if the noise goes away. Could have a bad new Russian tube.

Did the noise occur before or after you swapped tubes? Have you done anything else to the amp besides the tube and grille cloth change? According to the C600 service manual, if there is a defect other than a bad tube (the originals have a 90 day warranty) the entire amp gets replaced. Fender does not repair them under warranty. Technically, changing the grille cloth may void the warranty.

Well, there is only one tube of each type in this amp so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what it is. There's really very little in the C600 to go wrong except the two tubes. I have been pretty impressed by the robust build of this little amp.

my old Univox stage amp sounded like bacon cooking....then it went BOOM & tried to electrocute me, also fried my wiring,2 pots,& the 3-way switch, so be careful w/it! (in my case a 6L6GC had exploded and burnt the power-circuit to he11)

before you dig around much inside it, remember that tube amps store electricity and can possibly even terminate a person, while unplugged & turned off !!! :(
