Does anyone have an illustration or instructions on how to re-install the metal bracket and springs that secure the two EL84 power tubes on the Blues Jr.? Thanks.

Hi timrobwall,

This picture might help. There are small holes in the chassis beside the tube sockets, to hook one end of the springs into, and small holes in the metal retainer for the other end of the springs. The other spring is hidden from view by the tube, but this spring attaches in the same way as the spring that is visible.

Perfect! Thanks a lot. BTW, what are the plastic rings around the tubes?

Those are high-temperature silicon tube dampers, typically used to quiet rattling tubes. My tubes are fine, I'm using them as a preventative measure, and have found that they also dampen a little of the tubes natural "ringing" sound and reduce feedback slightly, making for a slightly less bright tone, as they are plenty bright already in this amp. The change in sound is subtle, and I'm not even sure whether or not the dampers actually help the tubes to last longer, but in a combo amp the tubes take a beating, so I figured it couldn't hurt. In this case, the dampers also keep the tube retainer springs from vibrating and ringing/rattling as much, which can help with the noise that they produce.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these tube retainers? I recently got a second Blues Jr. and the new one has a tube retainer whereas my older one does not. I never even knew about these things and I can't seem to find them anywhere online. Thanks in advance.
