Hello there everyone!

I have kind of a strange question for anyone that might possibly help out. I have a Princeton 112 plus which I am very loathe to part with. I have had it for almost 20 years and its been with me through thick and thin. I recently broke the back off the volume pot on the rythym side and it saddened greatly. Since over the years I have modified the amp a tad and put one of my heavier 12 inch speakers out of my fender twin, which really gave the amp a wonderful bottom end (only on the first channel the side which the pot broke). I have tried a lot of different amps, but cannot seem to find the same sound with anything else. My issue is this: I want to replace the pot but I am looking for a pot that will give me a usable volume control, since the Princeton came originally with a pot that has all volume from 0 to 2 and I always found it very very hard to find the "sweet spot", its the only drawback I ever found and can be quite frustrating. I have heard of people replacing this with a different type of pot (audio for example) but I have no clue of a part # that would work. I know this is a bit much, 8) but if someone by the off chance might know what the heck I am talking about could help, I would be forever grateful!
thanks everyone in advance!

An audio-taper pot of the same value would permit more usable control of the volume, especially at the lower limit of sweep. IIRC all of the Dyna-Touch amps use snap-in pots that attach to the PCB with tabs that insert into corresponding slots in the board. Check the websites for Angela Instruments and/or The Parts Guru -- they both stock plenty of OEM parts for Fender amps, both modern and vintage.

Hi scottydee,

This is the original part, and is a 50K ohm, 30C taper, which is a 30% reverse audio taper, I believe. Fender part number 0038658000.

http://www.guitar-parts.com/catalog/fender-pot-50k-snap
and
http://www.darrenriley.com/FenderAmpParts.htm (scroll down to pot)

You can try an "A" taper, which is audio taper, Fender part number 0037323000.

and
http://www.darrenriley.com/FenderAmpParts.htm (scroll down to pot)

Or try the "B" taper which is linear taper, Fender part number 0034719000.

http://www.guitar-parts.com/catalog/fender-potentiometer-amp-snap-50k-34719
and
http://www.darrenriley.com/FenderAmpParts.htm (scroll down to pot)

All of these will fit as the original pot.

Those Princeton 112's are pretty good little amps, best of luck.

Yes they are a great amp with the right attachments. Took me a long time to get the sound I wanted out of such a small package. I use a Yamaha PW-33 pedal system and use only the rythym side for the depth with the treble turned down to 3 and the bass boosted wide open. Touch of compression and few other little tweaks and run clean and presto! You got a tube sound with the heavier speaker and very little distortion, great for jazz and blues. You also dont have to lug around monstrous amps and at my age I really dont want to be doing that! LOL
