I am writing this on a very sad day. After 1.5 years of faithful service my vibro king started smoking and then just quit last night under normal usage. In 15 years of using tube amps I've never seen anything like this. It wont even turn on any more. Ive contacted Fender service and they are going to have a look being that its still under warranty.

I'm writing to see if there are any amp gurus on here that may have a clue as to what happened

If the amp is still covered by the warranty, do not touch it. Let the service center techs do their job.

+1 Retroverbial

If I had to guess, you lost an output tube, smoked a screen grid resistor and maybe blew the input fuse (JAG). But, if you saw smoke, it is not a simple matter of installing new tubes, so the amp needs service.

I doubt it's anything really common but it does sound catastrophic. The techs will know more once they get the chassis open and start their diagnostics.

Let us know what the report is once they have a chance to look it over.
