I purchased a used, beige Hot Rod Deville a couple of weeks ago, does anyone know when the amp was made and is it really a limited edition model/color?

The only difference between those and the black ones is the color of the vinyl and a couple of hundred dollars. There is no difference in the amp itself. It may have a different speaker, though. I forget what was used.

+1

There were a number of cosmetic variations issued by FMIC over the years to include blonde Tolex, brown Nubtex, traditional tweed, a limited-edition lacquered sunburst, and (currently) a tweed/black Tolex two-tone variant -- all used with various Fender grill cloth colors. AFAIK the amp chassis remained the same except for routine model updates and revisions as they were designed and put into production.

It has Jensen PR10 something or other speakers, which is different speakers than what the black Tolex Deville has. What I was wondering is it the newer version of the Hot Rod as far as the electronics go(volume and treble pots, ect)?

Does it have a chrome or a black control panel? The previous versions were chrome. The new Series III versions have black control panels.

+2 It's all cosmetic plus a speaker upgrade depending upon your taste in speakers.
