I've been playing a Kingman 10 for about 18 months and now looking to get an amp. Any suggestions for an inexpensive acoustic amp (new or use) for practicing in my room and playing with friends. Thanks everyone!

How inexpensive? I just got a great deal on a Fishman Loudbox Mini. I paid a little over $250 for it and it's really sweet. My Martin sounds incredibly natural through it. 65 watts, a mic channel reverb and chorus.

I highly recommend the Marshall AS series...I think I have the AS50D. Great acoustic amp, and has a second channel with an XLR input for a mic. Perfect for coffee shop type gigs.

No problem. I used it for the first time at a rehearsal last night and it worked out great. Sounded natural ans was plenty loud enough. It's really small and only weighs 20 lbs.

Thanks everyone! I have three amp I will most definately checkout. I understand acoustic amps are built differently than electric guitar amps. Are there must (basics) haves in an acoustic amp?

Okay, I tried the Fishman Loudbox and the Marshall. I really liked the Marshall but more than I want to spend, well at least at GC. The Loudbox was nice as well and more in my price range. I may need to go with a used amp. GC did not have many used amps to try. Are there reliable sources for used amps to buy? I am hoping to check out the Acoustasonic next weekend. So far so good. Thanks again.

Be sure to bring your own acoustic guitar with you when you try these amps out. My Martin is equipped with Fishman electronics which is probably the reason it sounds so nice through the Fishman amp. Just a thought.

I did not think to bring my guitar with me nor the Fishman connection. This really does make sense. I am going to try the Fishman again! This forum is cool! Thanks for the help.

I bought a used Motion Sound KP200S for $400.00 and it has been a great investment for my acoustic/electrics and for my line outs on my other amps.
http://www.motion-sound.com/product?name=kp-200s

It is a 200 watt two channel amp with two pairs of 1/4" inputs per channel and a XLR microphone input, but no phantom power. It will accept four stereo sound sources.
It is a high powered keyboard amp so it has a very clean tone that is plenty loud.

You can add slave units to it and also a sub woofer.

I've been playing for over 40 years and this is actually the first time I ever bought a dedicated acoustic amp. My old acoustics had various pickups installed but nothing all that great. Mostly old D'Armond or some little stupid contact mic and I either played through my regular rig or the PA system. This sounds way more natural and musical to me. New guitar/new amp. Try a bunch if you can. We all hear things differently.
