Can anyone tell me anything about the Fender Blues Deville from the 90's? I'm most interested in knowing what sort of tone I can expect...ie, which other Fender amps will it sound the most like. Also, does anyone know what it sold for when new?

After weeks of agonizing and having multiple Fender amps slip through my fingers on Craigslist, I "settled" for a Vox AC30C2, which I thought would be a great all purpose rock amp. I like it...enough...I guess...but I am still jonesing for a great Fender Tube ala DRRI or TRRI or the like.

I put the AC30 on Craigslist to see what kind of trades I could get, and someone offered me the Fender Blues Deville mentioned above. Just trying to see if that is something I might be interested in.

I don't think I'd trade an AC30 for a 90's DeVille. The DeVille is probably ready for some maintenance.

Hi jerryfan6,

The '90s BDvl was made in the US (MIM after 2001). The 60 watt BDvl 2x12 with 6L6 output tubes, will sound closer to a HRDlx with extension cabinet, but louder. The sound is warm, rich, clean, solid tube sound. The sound of the BDvl will not be like a DRRI or TRRI at all, which are two very different sounding amps. The 22 watt 1X12 DRRI uses 6V6 output tubes and breaks-up very early, and the 85 watt 2x12 TRRI is the absolutely most clean tone that has no breakup (opposite extremes). I'd say that the BDvl falls somewhere in between those two amps as far as sound, good clean sound up to 4 or more before breakup, and the drive channel for more breakup. The BDvl does take pedals very well, and using pedals on the clean channel is great, and the right tube combination can make the drive channel work better also.
