OK, I just got my new Blues Deluxe, and I swear the Reverb on the footswitch changes channels and the Channel turns on the reverb. But, this circuitry should be on the board, so this really couldn't be.....could it? The part number of the switch is correct (28122000). Am I nuts? The amp was new in the box and backordered...

Any help?

Sounds like a pair of wires/contacts are reversed. Could be in the footswitch, the amp, or the cord. Easiest thing to try first is the footswitch cord. Any speaker cord or even instrument cable works on the Fender switching design. Try a different cord and keep your fingers crossed!

Fender design uses different voltages to switch functions (not just continuity), accomplished by the use of diodes. So, if the cord is not the culprit, take it to an authorized rpr cntr or the place you purchased it, and any knowledgable tech with a schematic and a meter can troubleshoot it. The schematics are available on this site, if you are electronically inclined, but take care not to void the warranty.

Of all things, it was bad cable shipped with the footswitch. I plugged in a standard guitar cable and whalah...total fix. Thanks so much for the help troubleshooting.

How lucky can you get!!!!!

I love Fender amps, BUT.......... In the last 5 yrs. I have purchased 3 new Fender amps (2 tubes and 1 solid state). Two of them (both tubes) had annoying little problems which should never have happened if Fender QC was effective. Both had what I call "tube rattling" (not loose tubes, but a sound coming from within the tube that sounds like a plate is vibrating against the glass at certain frequencies and volumes.) I had to replace the preamp tubes in both. This was at my cost since I would have had to either ship the amp, or drive it 85 miles one way ( probably two round trips needed) to an authorized repair center. At today's cost of gasoline, do the math. Also, the footswitch from one of the tube amps stopped switching channels (broken button internally). I had to send it to the repair center at my cost for shipping and packaging ($5 to $7). The rpr. cntr. turned it around the same day, but it still cost me and was an inconvenience. The SS amp had no problems and I've had it 2 yrs. now.

In reading many reviews of Fender amps, this situation is not uncommon and is very irritating! Always some little problem that nickel/dimes you.

I'm glad to hear your problem was the easiest one to deal with, however, you are stiil "out" the cost of one speaker cable, or at least the cost of S&H for return.

The Blues Deluxe Reissue is a sweet sounding amp. Hope you enjoy many years of trouble free service from this point on.
