Met a young gentleman @ the GC of North Houston last night to buy his BDRI. He plugged it in, I grabbed an Am. Std Strat off the wall, Turned it up to about 4 and started to wail. I was fairly impressed with the amp, but I can tell it needs a couple of tweaks, and a little cleaning. The volume control is a little scratchy, but overall the amp is brand new. Only 2 months old. I got it for $400. I have fallen for the "that's what I could afford" category. I'm starting up a blues band and wanted a good clean channel amp. My drummer has a HRDeville 4X10, that I will use as a backup when we start playing out, as I used to have one of these and know their potential. I'm happy with amp. Have been looking for an amp for a while, but $ has kept me from getting a TRRI or a DRRI. I have read just about everything on this forum about the BDRI, so I know the pros and cons, and experiences that everyone has had. It was bluesky636's comments and mods that really got me interested in this particular amp. Thanks for all the info from everyone.

How would I go about fixing or cleaning that scratchy volume pot?

First, with the amp on and guitar vol up just loud enough to hear low sound, try rotating the knob back and forth quickly, through it's full rotation, many times and see if it clears up. You can usually hear the scratchiness diminish as you continue rotating back and forth. :idea:

Great buying and really not expensive ! If Shimmilou advice doesn't work, try a cleaning special for contacts and electronics under voltage. Other possibility is to contact 7ender dealer because your amp is under warranty for 5 years 8)

Play a lot and more

I suppose it may be scratchy from lack of use? I'll give the twisting of the knob a try tonight. Will I need a receipt of original purchase for warranty work, or can they just use the serial #?

Also, something very peculiar, the footswitch is 2 button with channel select on one button and the other button says chorus? It threw up a red flag in my mind, but it wasn't a big concern, because I plan on using an overdrive pedal. The young man said it was the original switch. What does it suppose say on it. I'll take a pic tonight, or does anyone have a pic of theirs, so I can see what it's supposed to look like?

ALSO, I have read everything about the avatar pic and the problems other users have had, but I upload my pic, it shows up, then after logging off and logging back on later, the pic is gone? Kinda irritating. WTF!

OOPS! Sorry. Tried to go on the fly from memory. Didn't know turning 40 was the start of Alzeimer's. :lol:

Sometimes I forget to think!

I've wrote down the tubes you've had experience with, for future reference.

Not a problem. :lol:

My current tube configuration is:

V1 = NOS JAN GE 12AY7
V2 = JJ 12AX7
V3 = Balanced JJ 12AX7
V 4/5 = JJ 6L6GC

The 12AY7 was purchased here:

https://www.kcanostubes.com/content/nos-jan-ge-12ay7

The JJs were purchased here:

http://www.eurotubes.com/

Don't forget to bias the 6L6GCs properly.

What I know is that the warranty is transferable. But I don't know what are the conditions.
:?

The owner must be in possession of the original sales receipt showing the location and date of the transaction, and he/she must present it whenever service is requested or required.

See the warranty link I posted in response to Tis-san's. In short, you need the original purchaser's receipt, signed over to you by the original purchaser.

Edit: Arjay beat me to it. :D

The foot switch should say "Channel Select" and "Reverb". The one you have may have come with the amp, but it is not correct.

This is the correct footswitch:

Congratulations. I bought a new one two years ago, and it has been perfect.

Sounds like a good buy. Congratulations. Never had any trouble with my BDRI either apart from one microphonic tube.
