I was wondering what Mustang 1 owners think about this amp. I understand their made in China and I havn`t had much luck with guitar products made there. I`m looking for a small portable practice amp and this one looked like it would be good but the country of origin is a turn off. Anybody familiar with this amp ? How do you like it ?

You know, I went over to a friend, whose son just starting this long guitar journey. He bought a Marshall MG15-DFX. I played pretty well. And the digital reverb (delay) or whatever is pretty good. I know it's not a Fender. But, other friends have had some good luck with these Marshall startup practice amps.

I came real close to getting one, but decided I didn't really need another amp.
Forum member Tony Houston, a friend of mine, gets some great sounds out of his though.

Most, if not all cheap practice amps are made somewhere in far east, i.e. China, Malaysia, Viet Nam, India, etc. That's one reason they're so cheap. I expect there are worse choices than a Mustang. Personally, as an inexpensive practice amp, I like the Roland Cubes.

I bought one so I could leave my big amp downstairs and practice upstairs. I like the little mustang I and I can share amp settings between it and my larger Mustang III via the Fuse Software. For the price it is pretty dang good. Note: it has several amps modeled to offer. It models the Fender amps the best, of course. The Marshall and the Vox models aren't really all that.....heh...heh.

yeah because the chinese have no electronics experience - totally logical. Also, Americans are smarter and harder working and they totally make better practice amps.

The chicoms seem quite well-versed in intellectual-property piracy though......

For what it's worth...I have the Mustang I and I really like it for what it is. When I bought it, I was searching for Fender tones...and I was looking as small combos which included the Vibro Champ XD, Super Champ XD, and the Mustang I and II. At the time, I was not looking for a larger tube amp.

As I played through all of the above listed amps, I noted the subtle differences between the "tube-based" XD series and the Mustang series of amps, as they were directly related to the Fender tones. My primary goal was to find the best box that generated the best Fender tones...and dollar for dollar, the Mustang Series had all of the ones I was looking for, and more.

Then, when I got it home and plugged it into the computer, a whole other world opened. For 100 bucks...you simply can't go wrong. I've used it to record, and the tones are wonderful.

Now, I'm not saying that the XD series of amps are bad in any way...they simply didn't offer what I was looking for at the time.

I just bought a Super Sonic 22...and that will be my main amp, however, this little Mustang I is what I'll likely use to record as it just sounds that good.

Hope that helps.
Erik
