Just downloaded it. Will have to look at it more closely also.

Finally got mine activated. I need to experiment and see if there are some good libraries for our antiques. everything is geared to IC's and PCB nowadays. I kinda like Tiny Cad but it doesn't check the circuit for you.

Maybe you and shimmilou should start a new thread on how to use it. It would be more interesting than noisy BJrs and biasing Hot Rod Deluxes.

Only so much you can do with those two amps. Yes, I own a HRDLx III. But when I get into my Bassman, I'm going to trace out the ckt. so it will be easier to compare with those old blurry schematics on the web.

Back to the Champ now.

No, I was serious. I wasn't ragging on you. I think a thread on LTSpice would be worthwhile and very interesting. :D

It's a good Idea. Although most that would use are in the Modern and Vintage section, it would probably be best placed in the "Lounge." Might even be room for DesignSpark or Tiny Cad in there. Considering good, long lasting, affordable plastic electronic templates are tough to come by without ordering and waiting, finding the best free (or nearly free) software package that is easily extensible (library wise) is a great alternative to paper and ink. Could help you document the numerous revisions you made on your Champ. :)

A worthwhile project.

I would put it in Modern Amps. Too much junk in the Lounge. Someone would probably mistake it for spam.

How about it, shimmi?

Well,.........

Probably a bit to involved for me at this time. I really still use help, and do some searching on Google. It is a fairly intuitive program, if you have some experience with schematics and circuits in general. It's pretty much drag-and-drop, or click "Open", and connect-the-dots. The main trouble is just finding tube models already made, or making your own. I actually started many years ago with "Electronics Workbench" and "Multisim", which are both very similar to the Spice programs, and only fairly recently started using Spice.

Well, that's a lot more than I know about it right now.

Most of them are pretty much drag n drop now. Tiny Cad, Design Spark, LTSpice, KiCad...

Most also do not have good tube libraries. All geared towards ICs. But they can be made to work. Now, if you want them to simulate your design, that's another story. I am nowhere near that point with any of the packages. I'm still trying to figure out which one I like best.

Simulation is mainly why I use the programs, no smoke as is possible with a breadboard design, and much easier to test circuits quickly. For example, you can easily simulate the infamous 330 ohm vs 470 ohm resistor values in the HRDlx +/- 16 volt supplies, and compare the current in the circuit with each, to show that it's just plain wrong to use the 330 ohm resistors in that circuit.

I haven't gotten that far yet. Baby Steps.

Maybe we should start a new thread and some others (that have not seen this thread) may chime in.
