It seems like every time I turn on my DRRI after about 20-30 seconds there is a loud pop! Just one and everything sounds fine.

Is this a problem?

DRRI use a GZ34/5AR4 indirectly heated tube rectifier. A characteristic of IDHR is they take about 20-30 seconds to start passing B+ to the tubes. And thus that is when some issues with them may start to show up.

Try pulling the rectifier and using contact cleaner on the pins and socket. Just a little. Re-insert and try the amp again. Still pops? I'd say you prolly have a bad rectifier. The TAD GZ34/5AR4 STR seem to be about the best new boys on the block. Otherwise, I hope that you have access to a good used GZ34 or 5AR4 to test this problem, beofre shelling out big $$$$ for NOS stuff.

Could be a loose connection/ bad solder.

It will do if I'm playing, usually tuning or just hitting a note to see if it is producing sound at yet, or if I just turn it on and let it sit.
