Hi bberlin,

Maybe an explanation of what each switch does would help?

The "Power" switch has two positions, "Off" or "On". The power switch has to be in the "on" position to supply power from the outlet to the amp. This is the first switch to turn on before using the amp.

The "Standby" switch also has two positions, "Standby" (off) and "On" (on). The standby switch can be used like a "mute" switch, preventing sound from the amp when in "standby" position. It is useful to switch to the "standby" position between playing, or when changing guitars to prevent the noise when unplugging. Sometimes the standby switch "on" position can be labeled "play".

With the power switch to "on", and the standby switch to "standby", the amp and tubes will have power for warm-up, but no sound from the amp. When the standby switch is then switched to "on", you will get sound from the amp.

As has already been stated, ideally, turn the power switch "on", and leave the standby switch in "standby", for a few minutes to let the tubes warm up. Then switch the standby switch to "on" when ready to play.

I am saying the same as the others here, in a different way, and maybe we misunderstand the response from Fender.

I hope that this doesn't confuse you even more. :?:

Thank you Rock Star. Really great explanation.

Anyone care to disagree?

I will also pass this information by to the Fender person who provided me the 'other' answer.

Rock on. :|
