Turned it on, plugged in my 52 AVRI tele and played for about an hour, got on a phone conversation for a few minutes and when I came back I noticed that the pilot light went out again (it's been giving me trouble since yesterday). Picked up my guitar and there was no sound, not even humming noise, turned up the volume, nothing.

Took the top backpanel off and the two 6V6 power tubes have no life in them, a big contrast to the rectifier which is lit up with orange glow, all other tubes seemed fine as well.

Took out the power tubes and sub'ed each one into my Champ clone. They worked fine there.

Put them back in the DRRI. Close up the back panel. At this point I have the option of returning the amp back to the seller; however, I would be out of amp for about two weeks while it's in transit. Decided to take it to a local Fender authorized repair center.

So they are taking care of it, under warranty. Will find out next week how good the Fender warranty service is.

According to the people at the repair shop, they rarely see any problems with the DRRI. Maybe I just got a lemon??? :(

Did you buy the amp new or used?

The subject line indicates "new".

I bought it brand new 9 days ago... No mods were done, it's bone dead stock. My local Fender repair center is dealing with the issue under warranty and will let me know Monday what the problem is.

Worst comes to worst, I will take it back to the seller.

No pilot light but tube rectifier glow orange and other tube seemed fine ????? Two distinctive problem ?

Pilot light is the same circuit fillement of " other tube seemed fine"

IMO it is easy to fix if your Fender repair center have a true electronic tech

Sounds like the heater wires to the 6V6GT may need re-soldering to socket (By Fender, of course). They maybe supplying enough voltage to heat the 12AX7 and 12AT7, but not the power tubes.

BTW... the 5AR4 rectifier has its own heater line (red color usually and 5VAC) taps off the PT. That's why it's working fine and the 6V6GT may not be.

Photo shows rectifier socket on left and 6V6GT sockets to the right of it. Green and light green lines light the bulb and heaters of the 6V6GT's and smaller tubes. Red lines heat the rectifier. Photos is of an old Princeton Reverb not a DRRI. Just for your info:

If heater of preamp tube are glow the pilot light must glow too . It is the first bulb connected at the transformer filement wires ? And you say pilot not working ?

Stratele, I've seen a couple of amps (usually big ones, like 50-100 watt monsters), where the solder on the power tube's heater line was kinda hinky (on-&-off). And the sudden surge sometimes pops the pilot lamp (esp if it's an old one). Unfortunately, it's in parallel with the the heater lines, so a popped lamp line will still conduct electricity to the tubes. IOW--- it's not a fuse.

+1 BMW ,

Same Ithing here, no heater supply at 6V6 could cause an( too much ) higner voltage at pilot bulb and blow it. IMO bulb lamp are cheaper today .
