I have a Fender Twin II dated 1985. The problem is not really an electronic or mechanical failure it is a quirk in the design. On the lead channel, when increasing the ammount of drive and using the bass control the lower frequencies sound very flubby (lose definition). I originally thought this was a speaker issue but after tests with various speakers and cabs found it is the amp. So, I thought it was MY AMP until I found and played thru another Twin II at a local shop that had the same characteristics. I would like to know if anyone has done a modification to change this circuits behavior. I am using an EH Knockout pedal in the FX loop to give it some low end artificially for now. But, I know there are some really bright and knowledgable folks that frequent this site so I thougt its worth a shot to put it out there. Specifically: Only on the Lead Channel (Clean is pristine). "Flub" increases in audibillity as Midrange Control is decreased (made less dominant). "Flub" increases with increased settings in either or both Drive & Volume Controls (this amp has a Master on the Lead channel). "Flub" inreases at settings beyond 3-4 of the Bass control.
