I found this for a good price, but I'd like to know what cab it actually is, what the speakers are, and what they can handle before I buy it. There are no details for it!

Sorry about the link, but I didn't know how to embed

UPDATE! READ BOTTOM POST!

That looks like the late '80s 4 x 12 enclosure designed and intended for use with the "red knob" Dual Showman head. IIRC, the OEM drivers were made by Eminence and the cab is good for around 160 watts.

Do you reckon it could be used for sludge/doom/stoner? I'm using a 5150 head and a Les Paul.

Probably.

I'd consider installing a quartet of Celestion V30's in lieu of the Emi's though.

Update:I got the cab today, it's in good shape, works fine!

BUT!! The speakers aren't marked with stickers or anything, and I got it second-hand from GAK. I do not know what wattage they *definately* are, and I don't know the correct ohmage either.

Can anyone help?

A DVM will solve your impedance questions.

Any numbers stamped on the speakers' frames or magnet structures will reveal their pedigree.

Pics might help as well.

I've hit a number of issues with the cabinet so far. It is firmly glued together and I can't see a way to get inside the cabinet properly.

I've had a look at the speakers through the holes for the handle and the input jacks, and they appear not to have any markings on alltogether. They also appear to be rather scuffed, and I'm not sure whether they're the original speakers.

It's even got the OEM guy at Eminence at a loss. I can use a multi-meter to find the ohmage, but I still need to know the wattage!

Also, it appears that the only way to remove the speakers is from the front, but I'm not sure how to remove the front panel on this cabinet.

The grill frame should be secured by velcro strips. Once you pry it loose, the speakers are accessible via the front of the baffle board.
