Kong and I were there on the Sunday prior. A rainy, inhospitable day. The room was relatively empty and there was a guy in there with a camera taking pictures. I wonder if that was Snyder. By the way, that little morsel of a photo is just a taste, it's the monster in the next photo in the slide show which was the whole meal. Check out those cables going in near the floor to the far right in the photo!!. Those were easily 1.5 in thick.

It's insane! I bet whoever bought that little lot still hasn't figured out how to turn it all on  ... and then you'll get "ok, the power lights are on but I can't get any sound..."

Funny.....looking at it there, I turned to Hank and remarked something like....'get that home, plug it in, flip that switch, and there goes the neighborhood."

From the catalog:

That's Lot 130: the T-Mobile Strat in the R-Center. The lot also included a limited editi0n T-Mobile phone in the same finish. {The phone used in the commercial, signed by Eric, and including a service contract, was auctioned off as Lot 31}. I stood 1 foot away from this guitar. It was an absolutely stunning piece of work, and my favorite of all the Stratocasters in the collection that day. [Note the phones in the foreground.]

Lot 126: JJ Cales' Elite over in the L-background. The black Strat is by Todd Krause and is labeled Lot 59, a 2004 Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster Acoustic Model and indeed, a prototype. Got up close to these two as well.

Note that the logos are white outed. Interesting. Perhaps a copyright use issue here.

The Fishman bridge on this Mark Kendrick Masterbuilt is unique for Eric as only Pete Townshend uses such guitars.

I wonder for which reason Eric commissioned Mark to include the Powerbridge into that spare Blackie...

There's no unplugged song on the Cream repertoire! Slowhand never used his Martin on the 2005 reunion concerts (though I saw him playing Outside Women Blues and Sunshine For Your Love with his Bellezza Nera in 2004).

What's next? A GK3 Roland Ready one-off in Candy Apple Red with matching headstock, perhaps? Eric stopped using a guitar synth as of 1986!

I removed my first post. It shouldn't have gone out.
The guitar pictured IS, in fact, the acoustic prototype. The Cream spare has a curly maple neck and is not in that group.

Can't wait to hear John Suhr's input on these. He left the schematics with Fender before he left so hopefully some of it was incorporated into the Twinolux.

I would also like a definitive answer from Fender on the volume reduction of the "low output" and 1-speaker mode on the Twinolux. Are we talking whisper levels, small gig, bedroom or what?

Check out Premier Guitar Magazine online. They've a demo.

Seems to me that I found myself in the same predicament regarding a new '64 Vibrolux Custom way back when. :? :?

Most of the guitarists here in L.A that play clubs use blues juniors. Do you guys think the 12 watt model will be adequate for blues rock music? I know you can always mike it, but we are talking 50-200 capacity clubs with small P.A.
I would love to have the bigger amp, but three grand is not easy to come by to say the least..

Sweetwater's 'street' is $2999. That's 27% off list plus whatever your local taxes are. This may likely be the usually and customary for the industry. My guess is that the vendor's cost is $2000-$2400. So the question is, what kind of profit margin must they realize? Straight out of the gate, on this one, there's likely to be little wiggle room, particularly as we approach holiday season on a new issue. Might be interesting to see what the Ides of March will bring if the economy is slow, and the guys working on percentage have to bring home a check. On the other hand, there's the question as to how fast the factory can deliver product.
