I'm waiting til the local shops get these in. I would like to play one to hear if it is worth the bump in price. I'm a complete Clapton fan boy, but I still like his 90's blues tones a bit better then his current twin tone.

Eric uses tweed twins since the 2nd half of 1994.

This year was pivotal for Eric's successful carreer as it marks the end of the Soldano era which began in 1988.

Between 2001 and 2002 he ran his crash guitars through a blond VibroKing combo amplifier and a Leslie cabinet driven by a Marshall JCM800 head before switching to the Cornell 80 tweed twin clones a couple of weeks later.

I bought (and still have) a Soldano HR50+ because of those '90s blues tones. :)

It is why I have a Jet City combo.

For the blues nights concerts Eric plugged his smoker's guitar into a tweed Twin.

The SLO-100s were used for the more "modern" stuff (Pretending, Bad Love, Wonderful Tonight, No Alibis, etc).

But i'm talking about how I like his blues tone from 88-94. I know when he switched. I just like that Soldano sound though. When I want that Eric Clapton Derek and the Dominos Oceans tone I use my Champ.

From my understanding you are a fond of the Soldano era.

The closest thing you might expect from the SLO-100 is a Boss GT-8 pedal which features the Soldano preset. Eric recently got his signature tweed amplifiers.

The EC Twinolux/GT-8 combo is a wonderful combination because it gives you the best of both worlds. Just pick an EC Twinolux and plug the GT-8 pedal there. You'll have the Soldano crunch you're craving for in your fingertips.

Here's a YouTube video demonstrating the GT-8 with the Soldano preset in action:

The Jetcity I'm using is designed by Soldano. It gets the sound I'm looking for.

Generally Soldano amps deliver the searing crunch which made Clapton and the wonderful Mark Knopfler famous.

Knopfler himself introduced the Soldanos to Clapton, who was using Marshalls and Dean Markleys during that period.

Eric liked the smooth, round tones the SLO-100 delivered. Subsequently Clapton toured and recorded his next albums with the SLO-100 and a Cornish rig. He stayed with that setup from 1988 to 1994.

For those looking for Soldano tone, check this pedal out. Would love to try one and see how it compares to the real thing:

Yep.

He used a Dakota Red Telecaster, a sunburst Jazzmaster, the iconic cherry red 1964 ES-335 and a Gretsch 6120 during his Yardbirds days. His departure from the Yardbirds in 1965 marked the start of the Les Paul/Beano period.

The late John English did an exact representation of EC's Jazzmaster many years before his death in 2007.

I think Eric will love the SLOstortion, I think this Wampler amp simulator pedal is guaranteed to bring him a lot of good memories.

Went to the Fender Visitors Center Monday and it Rocked! Great to walk around and see the Custom Shop and thanks everyone for being so great.Got to play all three EC amps. The little one was surprisingly nice, didn't like the middle one, theTremolux. The Twinolux (big one) was my favorite. The cleans were fat and clear like crazy. I had to turn it up to 7 to get some dirt playing with a Clapton Strat and the guitars midboost on 1 with volume on 5. If you pick lighty it's cleaner and a nice little breakup and when you pick hard it dirties up nice. Great dynamics. The attenuator they have is a three position knob which offers full power with both speakers, low power with both speakers and lo power one speaker. Both two speaker settings sound great and the power lowers but keeps most of the tone with the lo two speaker setting. I didn't like the last setting which was lo power with one speaker it sounded way to thin. They are going for about 3G street. Could make me sell my Supersonic half stack if the GAS doesn't go away.

I know, JE's copy of EC's second Jazzmaster bought in 1991 in Japan:
