Hiya,

This is my first post to the forum, don't know why i didn't think of this before.

I wonder if anyone out there could maybe work out what is wrong with my Twin, i have a couple of major problems with it.

First off, while on the gain channel on channel 1, the amp keeps trying to switch to channel 2, never completely, it is like it is constantly flicking between the two but never fully if that explains it. If i touch the the footswitch lead where it plugs into the amp it is really hot. If i push the plug downwards it seems to solve the problem for a while. To be honest after maybe 30 mins of being on it stops happening, but also only seems to happen if i'm playing.

The second problem is the reverb. gradually over the 15t years i've had the amp i have had to turn the reverb down more and more. It is now on 1, but that is what it used to sound like on 3 1/2. Anything over 1 now and it is like it was on 10.

I really hope you guys can help, i don't like having an ill Twin.

I think your amp needs a serious maintenance. May be valves, soldering, caps, wiring ...
Let us know if you have electronics skills !

Hey thanks for the reply, well my electronic skills are pretty much zero, but the bass player in my band is another matter, he could manage it no problems.

I sort of guessed it needed a major service, but really had a job finding anyone who would/could do it near me. The one "so called amp doctor" basically said "oh it's an old amp" ... helpful don't you think.

Anything you could point me in the direction of would be fantastic.

Thanks again.

Hi mcfontaine,

Maybe start with replacing what appears to be a bad cable for the foot switch. The foot switch also controls the reverb, it might be related.
