I'm wanting to use a TC Electronic G Major 2 with my DRRI - no effects loop. However, I did find:

http://acapella.harmony-central.com/sho ... my-DRRI%29

I have no concept of how this works, but it seemed to when I tried it. Normal channel volume acts like a dry mix while reverb channel acts like a wet mix. The G Major apparently sounds better with a serial loop, so I could just turn the normal channel volume off and use the reverb channel as my volume?

Can anyone explain whether this is actually an effects loop and whether they do act as wet and dry controls. I guess another issue is whether it is giving the G Major a line level signal? If anyone has a G Major and DRRI I'd really appreciate if you could test it and see how it works and sounds.

Another thing I am trying to grasp is whether I can run the G Major through a pedal looper (like the Rocktron Patchmate 8 rack version) and still have the rig work when the loop is switched off, given the weird signal chain this "effects loop" creates.

PS. I had the Fritz mod done so that reverb is on both channels, so they are in phase.

Hi Warren,

I can't really answer you questions specially, but as a TC Electronic user, I just place my Nova in front of my DRRI and that works fine for me (see link).

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=61716&start=45

Installing a loop would have been nice, but I don't want to introduce such invasive mods to my DRRI and hey, if I'm getting what I need in a series chain, then why bother?

Have you tried the G-Major in front of your DRRI? You'll need to play with the output levles I guess?

Hi,

Well the thing is I think that the Nova takes instrument level while the G Major is line level. I read that it makes a lot of noise with the G Major in front (I don't have it yet).

Sorry Warren, I didn't realise the G Major (2?) was line level input only - if so, that's a real bummer.

Worth raising on the TC Electronic forum perhaps?

http://forum.tcelectronic.com/

I've found it full of useful advice.

Good luck!

Hi warrenduane,

The link that you provided isn't working because that part of the site is down for maintenance (see below). Since you've described the setup as a "wet" (signal with effects) and "dry" (signal with no effects) channels that you can mix with the amp's volume knobs, I presume that your TC Electronic G Major 2 pedal is inserted between the normal channel and the vibrato channel with a couple of cables plugged into the amp's input jacks. This is not actually an effects loop, but should work fine as you've described, maybe even better than a loop as you can mix the two signals instead of all or none like a loop. Normal channel is dry, and vibrato channel is wet, or you can make whichever channel that you want wet or dry. And yes, pedals and guitar are line level. But if you insert a "looper" and turn it off, you will lose that channel (wet) in the amp, but the other channel (dry) will still work.

Sounds like you have already tried it and it works, what is the problem? I would think that the TC Users Forum might have better answers, but you have to wait until those people wake up, 5 AM is awfully early.

I don't actually have the G Major 2, just contemplating whether or not to buy it. But yes, it is guitar into input 1 of normal, input of effect into input 2 of normal, and output of effect into input 1 of vibrato. The post claims it is a parallel loop.

It's good that they're line, but everyone says the G Major 2 only works properly in an effects loop (and preferably serial or wet 100%), so that's a bit disappointing. So there's no way to make the effect come after the preamp section without modding it?
