I just got my new Blues Jr III today and noticed that the back is loose near the bottom, so the entire back assembly can freely move around 1/4". I assume this is not normal. The question is: is this something that tightening a screw or two will fix, or should I mail it back to the retailer?

It sounds great and works perfectly otherwise.

I know it's probably a silly question, but I'd rather ask now rather than doing something that risks voiding the warranty.

Thanks!

ps. There's slight burning smell after a few minutes of being on, I assume this is just normal for the break in period (this is a brand new amp, not a demo floor amp)?

Notice that the back panel is longer than the chassis where the 6 screws holding the panel are located. This means an open space behind the panel from the screws down, so some movement is possible, this is normal. It won't void the warranty to make sure the screws are tight, just don't try to twist the screw heads off. Check all of the screws while you are at it to make sure that they are all tight. And a slight burning smell is usual for a new tube amp, they do get hot and anything near the output tubes will also get hot and may cause some smell.

It seems to move more than I would expect, as if the side screws are not in place. I will take a closer look and a screw-driver and see what I can accomplish.

I am getting significant rattling at mid+ volumes, so that might have something to do with it.
