I was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with this problem I'm having with my Blues Deluxe.
When I'm playing in the normal channel for a few minutes, the drive channel light comes on and the amp cuts completely out. After a few seconds the light goes out and the sound comes back. This process repeats for as long as I play.
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks!

Hi, Gibbo812
I noticed your inquiry and am as curious as you. I am looking a a blues deluxe to restore and it has a similar problem. On this one, the drive channel cuts out after 5 to 10 minutes of playing. I was talking to a salesman at the local music store and he mentioned that the earlier blues deluxes had a problem with a particular resistor heating up as it was soldered directly onto the PC bpard. The fix was to remove this resistor and replace it with a resistor with a "Foot" which would keep the resistor from overheating.
I would like to ask the fender guys if this problem did and does exist. If so, and I can get it fixed, I may go on with the restoration. If not, I'm going to look at something else.
I think your problem may be more related to a bad switch. It may be shorting and causing it to switch to and from the drive channel. I wouldn't think it would be too expensive.

Thanks Venturas,

I discovered the problem with my amp was a common one with these and the Hot Rod amps. It seems two 5W resistors are the source of a lot of trouble. Most notably, channel switching and reverb problems. These resistors develop cold solder joints over time and need to be replaced.
I desoldered and resoldered mine and the amp works fine. No more switching channels and cutting out. I'll replace them if I have any more trouble, but for now everything is great.
