Thanks for reply shimmilou,

It's the output tubes that were glowing Very Bright orange, there was a tint of blue as well, the plate seems fine. I think is just me not used to amps, I realise now that they are over baised and this causes over heating. My mate seems to think the brown marks on the tube is just the label getting burnt!

I had it at my mates tonight and it seemed fine, think I'm going to put a set of JJ's in it, didn't realise they were so cheap, but don't think I could tackle it myself and I would void the guarantee!

If it does it again I will post some pics of it!

Thanks again
Indy

You won't void the warranty if you change tubes. And with that amp, just turn off the amp and let the tubes cool, unplug the old tubes, plug in the new ones, making sure to align the pins in the socket (note the open space between tube pins) and go. I am not a fan of the hot bias in the BJr, but it was designed that way I guess. Many BJr owners just change the tubes themselves, and I haven't heard of any amps blown-up because of it. Typically, a hot bias will shorten the tubes life. Here is a pic of my BJr original output tubes, before I installed a bias adjust and new tubes. They worked fine for a couple of years, but as you can see they do show signs of running hot, note the black spots inside the glass, and the label would rub off when touched.

Another word for you on effects loops..

Think of it this way ~ If your amp is set to overdrive and you plug in the delay to the input, then your delay sound will be distorted as well. Generally speaking, an effects loop is a break in the circuit between your pre-amp and power amp stages. So if you put the delay there, then you will hear delayed distortion rather than distorted delay. Get it?

Obviously, if your amp is set ultra clean, then it doesn't matter where you put the delay.
Oh, and unless you have a good reason not to, the delay pedal should come after your fuzz box. Again, you want delayed distortion rather than distorted delay..

Redundant anyway in your case, as the BJ (sadly) lacks an effects loop. :(
