I had been looking at amps for a while, and initially was looking at the Vox VT20 and orange crush, due to the price factor!!

They were ok amps, but wasn't really cutting it with my new Deluxe Stat. I seen the FBJ and immediately fell in love with it, what an amazing clean sound, very warm and the tone is beautiful, I can't stop playing it, even at low volume it is great.

Sounds great with my Big Muff as well, looking for a good analogue delay now if somebody could recommend one I would appreciate it!!!!

Congrats indianabones,

Sounds like a similar experience as with my BJr find. It wasn't until I actually heard it that I was impressed though. Great little amp, and hard to beat in that price range, good choice. :D I don't use delay, but someone here probably does.

Congratulations on your new amp. Enjoy! I would recommend the MXR Carbon Copy for a delay pedal. I think you'd like it. Good luck in whatever you purchase.

Congrats on the amp.

I love delay. I currently have a Boss DD-3. It's the average run of the mill Digital delay.

Here are a couple Delay's I'd recommend & I'm interested in buying for myself.

Wampler Faux Analog Echo

And also to agree with fhopkins
the MXR Carbon Copy is a sweet sounding analog delay.

Thanks guys, still loving it..can't stop playing now, really something with the N3 noiseless pick-ups!!

Think the Carbon Copy sounds up my street, trying to get that Gilmourish sound, quite a good price as well, with a nice warm delay..very cool!!!

Thanks for the input everyone!

If you can find one a TC 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay, discontinued now.
Some do show up on ebay from time to time, runs around 1500$ used.
It is the same one Gilmour uses.

Their new ND-1 Nova delay looks interesting!
ND-1 Nova Delay demo on youtube
Much cheaper too at 259$us at sweetwater

I do agree the MXR Carbon Copy is nice sounding and a lot cheaper to boot too.

Another vote here for the Carbon Copy Delay.

A friend of mine finally wore me down and persuaded me to sell him my old Boss DM2. The MXR Carbon Copy was a more than acceptable replacement with the cash I got for that "legendary" (actually I don't believe it's worth it's reputation) Boss delay. Anyway, we were both happy.

I use a (slightly modded) Blues Junior too. Too bad it doesn't have an effects loop for delay and modulation pedals though..

I'm using the TC Electronic Nova system.

Lots of delay options on this unit e.g. digital, analog, tape & dual delay with up to 1800ms available.

+ pitch and modulation effects too - great value for money overall.

Thanks a lot guys, I will check the other ones out and let you know what I ended up with..oh the fun!!!!

peterp: what difference would an effect loop make? i have my Big Muff between the guitar and amp, would an effects loop make it sound or act any different?

I'm not sure what's happened to my amp, I was playing it earlier and it started to smell a bit, like heat, so stopped and had a look and one of the the tubes was really bright, and the other was dim, the same as the preamp valves, I switched it off and it eventually dimmed down, when I started playing again, the other one got brighter, but not as bright as the first one, is this the normal thing with these valves? the one that got brighter looks like it has a burnt mark on it!

I had the master right up and the volume between 1 & 2, would this make the valve go really bright?

Don't want to steal the thread but just have to ask.

Feedbackboy: You are liking the TC Nova?
Was worried about it being digital,
I've been more than a bit disappointed with some boss cosm thingies, notably the RT-20.
Which seemed really great when I first got it, that changed over time as I actually listened to it, and the noise it inserted especially when it was supposedly disengaged.

Effect loop out is after your amps preamp/gain stages and the
Effect loop in goes into the power amp stage

Some pedals work OK in the effects loop, others don't :)
Everyone has their preferences, I think time based effects (flanger, rotating speaker simulator) work well in the effects loop
Other pedals like a wha-wha, distortion, OD are better in the normal amp in.

But as I said everyone has their own preferences on where and what order things go in :D

Really want an analogue delay pedal, I have aboss D80 drum machine with come cracking effects but, still not got that sounds I'm looking for.

Think I'm going to go with the Carbon Copy, like the sound of that and the price is good!

Thanks

peterp - loving it overall, with one reservation:-

I wanted to clear the floor completely with the Nova solution, but unfortunately for my ears, the analogue overdrive/distortion on the Nova sucks. So as you can maybe see in the pic, I've retained my ancient Korg A5 pedal for this duty, which is a manageable work-around, although disappointing.

The effects are stunning and very flexible with the sound retaining the tone of my guitars and the DRRI - that's why I stayed away from modelling amps.

No noise to complain about, other that which a Strat in a hi-gain chain inevitably attracts.

It has a neat Intelligent pitch-shifter: drop in the key, the scale and away to go: instant 70's twin lead parts a la Thin Lizzy, Bad Company and this tracks so closely I am in heaven. It also has a nice de-tune feature to enrich your sound and make it sparkle - with some dirt kicked in, I've nailed a great Billy Gibbons sounds from the Eliminator album!

Why not come on over and try it out?

What do you mean by "really bright"?. And, which tubes are you referring to? The two big ones are the output tubes, and the three small ones are preamp. Can you post a pic of your tubes in action to show what you mean? The BJr is biased very hot from the factory and smelling something like you have described is normal with a new tube amp. The glow that you see from the output tubes, is it the orange glow from the filament, or is it the blue glow from the tubes operating, or is it that the Plate (normally gray or black) is glowing red? The former two are normal, the latter indicates a problem. The glow from the tubes can seem different depending on the viewing angle, and sometimes the blue glow can only be seen from the right angle through a hole in the Plate. Typically, if the sound hasn't changed drastically, it is probably fine. The are really no knob settings that will cause any kind of problem for the amp.
