I am considering buying a Blues Jr Limited Edition Tweed with the upgraded speaker. Is it worht the extra $ over the regular Blues Jr? They're asking $425 used.

Also, I see it is a "Hot Rod" amp, which many people here say isn't a good line of the Fender amps. Any thoughts on this amp and it being a hot rod?

The Jensen speaker will sound different than the Eminence, some like it better. But, for that price, if the amp is in great condition, I say yes. The tweed looks great!

It is wrong to lump all HRd amps together, those that do, don't have a clue. The BJr is a great amp regardless of version, and is no where near a HRDlx in any way other than it is in the HRd family. Forget the haters and their vendettas, there are many times more happy BJr owners out there, including me.

Good to know. I didn't want to buy it only to have problems that I've heard about on the HRDlx. Thanks.

I own both the HRDlx for 14 years, and BJr for 5 or 6 years, both are great. And I can tell you that problems with either have been grossly exaggerated. 8)

The term "haters" implies that the subject hates things for no reason.

People like me, on the other hand, who hate the Blues Junior because we owned one and it sucked no matter how many things we altered, are not "haters" and don't have a "vendetta." We have a genuine and reasoned opinion, based on personal experience, that it's a lousy amp.

That's cool EgFryer. I hope that you don't lump all HRd amps together. I don't recall you mentioning any reliability issues with your BJr, is that correct? Glad that I am no longer on the list. :)

Just to razz you a little, you did call it your "civic duty". :P

Why would a pro buy an entry level tube amp?
