Please forgive me with what is undoubtedly a stupid newb question, but when I first turn on my BJ NOS, there is an initial smell that is similar to, but different from burning plastic. Is this the tubes warming up? Yes, this is my first tube amp (and post). Otherwise the amp seems to work as advertised. I'm playing a Road Worn Tele and an LP with P90s. Both make riteous sounds through the little tweed. I demo'd an Egnator, AC15, and others, but the NOS got my mojo going. Cheers.

If it's totally new out of the box, this is possible. If it does not go away after 15 minutes, have the amp serviced and don't turn it on again.

Cheers

David

Yes I think it is normal maybe for an hour ? And more ? The heat from the tubes + dust+ chemical ( ? ) tubes glass and chassis and on all caps and resistor = smell.

This stuff have to burn completely . Your amp is on warranty , better to be shure is not working before send back . In the worst case, for you is the same , small or big dammage.

But IMO it's nothing.

There is probably some newness that needs to be burned in keep the receipt and let it run for a few hours. and see if it goes away or break cause it's still under warranty

Thanks a bunch for the replies guys. Seems like it only lasts for a few minutes, then dissipates. I hardly noticed it at all tonight. Actually, now that I think about it, it's a good sign that it wasn't played much, since it was a floor model.
