Hi all,

I bought a Super Champ XD last week and it has a slight issue. Before returning it I wanted to check with others. I have the feeling this may be a minor design flaw that they all have.

What happens is when the power is first turned on the volume can be lower than the last time playing. This can be barely noticable to nearly half, depending on the guitar and settings. The only thing that clears it is changing the channel or voice switch and then back again. It seems more apparent with a bridge humbucker, and a louder or more overdriven amp setting. There also seems to be a greater difference after the amp's been on a while and is hotter, and then turned off for just a minute or two. When its cold I really have to listen for the difference.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it a known issue? Can anyone else recreate it? Any input appreciated.

Thanks.

It could be a faulty power tube. That's the simplest. But most here say send it back and get a new one.

Yeah, I don't know why but for some reason I had a funny feeling this may be how most or all of them are, and most people have never noticed or didn't think anything of it.

I may keep mine as long as I can (still got about 22 days) and see if it gets any worse or if more people respond either way. Thanks.

I just attributed that behavior on mine to the tubes warming up to temp.

Umm -- had it for about 4 years with no problems.

Yeah, this isn't the tubes warming up or the volume difference in voices. It can be on for hours, then turned off just a second or two and back on. Its definitely something with the DSP chip. It's a minor inconvenience but I don't want it to get worse later. I also didn't want to bother sending it back and waiting for a replacement, only to get the same thing.

I've got another 3 weeks. I think I'll give it another 1 and see how it goes.
