Hey guys Im new here and to the Guitar world. I would like to get some feedback on this amp. I want a simple do it all amp that will play good cleans and if I want to get into it play some good distortion. I love all Rock music from classic to metal. From what Ive read this can do all of that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

This is a great starter amp. It can do all that. The only other recommendation for guys starting out is to consider something like the G-DEC series that gets you playing to backing rhythm and chord changes all the time. That's hugely beneficial to your development.

But just as a great all-around super-versatile amp with true tube dynamics and tone, the SCXD for the money is unbeatable. And think of all the stomp box money you're saving--it's got every effect there is built in.

I do wish they'd included a tuner. The new Peavey Vypyr tube series has preset banks, onboard tuner, a fancy optional footswitch and a USB recording out.

I see Fender taking the XD series up a notch very soon: 2 6L6s, 50 watts, 12" speaker, and all of the above for $449. Take my money, please!

The G-DEC 30 is a great amp for practice, the possibilities go a long way, when you figure out how to load midi backing tracks, alter midi files in jammaker and then load into the G-DEC. The Gdec also has an large amount of effects and amp models, reverbs and a great feature is a Loop phase. You can record yourself playing a couple chord changes and then play along to your own looped recording. It has the tuner in it as well.

The sound quality is not the best, I am now in the market for a tube amp, but would NEVE give up my G-DEC.
