I have recently acquired a 2001 Fender Bass Breaker amp. This is an amp that I have long cherished, but never had the opportunity to own one until now.

I have searched the web for any information I can find and have read the 'Soul of Tone' from cover to cover. What I would like is access to a downloadable 'users guide' for this amp. Fender Consumer Relations have kindly sent me a spec. sheet for the amp but I would dearly love to gain access to an original (or copy of) users guide.

Can anyone please help?

By the way I love the amp. A real find!

Likely a tough item to find due to the LE status of the amp.

The chassis is the basic 5F6-A tweed Bassman re-issue, wired to a pair of 4Ω Celestion V30's.

It was last shown in the 2002 Frontline catalog.

I have trolled many Fender help guides but can find very little mention of this amp. This is an amp that has long fascinated me and has had some excellent owner reviews, but other than a few sentences in the "Soul of Tone" I find even general information hard to find.

I now own a Bass Breaker - and I love it - but why is this amp so rarely mentioned, and why was it dropped by Fender? It's first cousin, the Marshall BluesBreaker, and its sibling the Bassman, have each received much deserved acclaim, while the Bass Breaker is fading into oblivion. Puzzling.

Thanks Retroverbial for your input. Do you know whether this 'Custom Series' amp actually came with a users guide? I am assuming it did.

My 'Bassman' (another great amp) came with a users guide, plus a couple of Schematic Drawings, but as there are some differences as well as similarities between the two amps, I see a need for a dedicated Bass Breaker users guide. Not all owners would choose to own both amps just to obtain a guide.

I have had no problems with the Bass Breaker, but do like to keep records and information on all my equipment whenever possible and as the amp will no doubt outlast me, the next owner might be happy to have a copy of any available info.

Thank you to anyone who can provide any helpful or interesting info on this amp.

I'm certain the amp when new was sold with an owner/user guide. However, it may have been the standard 5F6-A booklet with a model-specific insert page only, describing the altered speaker complement. Though this amp was billed as a "Custom Shop" model, it retained the standard PCB chassis construction of the normal tweed Bassman re-issue.

Retroverbial: I am sure you are right. It was worth a try though - and thank you for your input.

I did contact the Consumer Relations Department at Fender and they provided me with a Bass Breaker spec. sheet based on the Serial Number I provided.

Incidentally the cabinet sizes for the Baseman and the BB are slightly different, but much of the rest (except the speakers and the overall weight etc.) remains the same.

Indeed.

The Bass Breaker's dimensions listed in the Frontline catalog are shown as 21.5"H x 25"W x 8.75"D, with a weight of 40 lbs. The cab proportions seem vaguely reminescent of a low-power 5E8 tweed Twin.
