Alright, this is my first time posting on a forum. I bought a used Fender Twin Reverb Reissue (Not sure of the year, I can double check) a month or two ago off of Craigslist. The guy seemed like a reputable guy, but you never know with Craigslist. Anyways, I was playing to a backing track today- I was running my Dean from Hell through my Boss ME-50 effect board into the Fender twin. I had the distortion cranked and was jamming along. I heard a LOUD pop (like the sound of a gunshot) near the end of my session. I checked my PA where I was running the backing track and turned it off. I continued to play on the Twin and I heard another loud pop. I turned off the distortion and the amp still seemed to work. There was a slight buzzing, after turning off the highs mids and lows there was no buzzing but I assume the Twin has some sort of a buzz (correct me if I am wrong). Now I am afraid of what the deal is with my amp. I've decided to just leave it for studio tracking. This is my first tube amp and don't know how sensitive they are. I love the amp and the sound it exudes. Can you all please help me trouble shoot what the issue can be? How much it would cost to fix it and also recommend any reliable cheap-moderately priced technicians in the Los Angeles area who can help me maintain my amp? My main concern is the popping. Thank you everybody, I appreciate your help. Thank you again in advanced.

Sincerely, my best,

Justin Ashouri

Unplug amp. Trying running good contact cleaner through the sockets and pins of tubes (just a little, don't flood the boards). Also cleaner on all input and speaker contacts. And reverb/vibrato contacts. Re-attach everything. Plug amp back in.

It that doesn't help, you prolly have a poor grounding point. Or bad solder to one of the heater pin of the tubes. Amp tech time.... unless you are familiar with going through an amp, out of the cab.

Good luck with the spray.

On top of BMW advices, put a mark on each valve in order to put back in the same order or remove one by one.

Got my trri off craigslist as well. First thing I did was pull all the tubes and worked contact cleaner into all the tube sockets. Reseated all the tubes and cleaned a couple of scratchy pots and it's been great ever since. I upgraded the filter caps and tone caps as well and that made a big difference. I Also adjusted the bias. I'm in the L.A. area (san gabriel valley), I can walk you through most of the maintenance if you'd like, or just help you look it over.

Hey Socal that would be AWESOME, called a couple repair guys today and they quoted me anywhere between 35-250 to fix it. So I really would appreciate that. Send me an e-mail and I'll send you my #. I am a complete newb when it comes to maintaining amps. It would be great to learn. My email is ___________ (lol check PM socal, and anyone else who wants it just send me a PM, thanks Rock Star) . Thanks man. You guys rock. Very ecstatic I joined the Fender Forum. Hope to talk to you soon. Thank you again.

Justin, this forum has a "PM" (private message) function which I'd urge you to use whenever you wish to contact another member directly in order to exchange e-mail addresses or other sensitive information (look at the bottom of anyone's post and you'll see the "button" to access it).

The reason?

This forum is under constant assault by spam bots phishing for addys and unless you edit your previous message they just got yours.

A "word to the wise", eh?

Good luck with your amp and welcome to the forum.

Arjay
