I have a 64 vibroverb custom and wanted to install a 5751 preamp tube for the vibrato preamp channel to soften her harshness alittle. Not that there is anything wrong with the 12ax7 that is in it. I just want to play around with the tone some. I got the idea from seeing a guy doing it on youtube and it sounded nice. I use the vibrato channel so not sure which valve to replace. Also would I need to get this rebiased after swapping out the tube?

You'll be replacing V2, second tube from the right as you view the chassis from the rear.

No biasing required -- that's reserved for matched pairs or quads of power tubes (the big bottle at the other end of a blackface chassis).

All FNG's to this forum must post pics of their gear.

(it's rule #1)
