maybe everyone would feel better if all you guys pool your money and buy a twinolux and smash it with a sledgehammer. dang, i don't think i have ever read such hatered for an amp. i don't even think the hot rod series got such a bad rap. i watched a video on youtube of a demo of these amps and they sounded damn good(even on youtube). a '54-'57 twin it an't, but nice none the less. by the way I have played a '56 twin and that old guy that owns it will not sell it. ever , because he knows what he has.

Just because we post on a Fender forum doesn't mean we are head over heels in love with everything Fender sells. Everyone has a right to their opinion and to post it here.

+1

All opinions are welcomed here, though they may not all find kindred souls to support them.

What I still cannot fathom is the goofy "Twinolux" name. It would've made more sense from a geneological and lexicological standpoint to christen it the "Vibro Twin". JMOOC......

These amps are a good design idea but they are WAY overpriced!

Fender pricing policy (and not only with these amps) is not in keeping with reality. In Europe, the 12W Tremolux for instance costs $2700!!!

And, at the risk of driving our resident "Claptonistas" apoplectic, it's basically only a one-trick pony.

+2 Everything they make isn't roses and rainbows. I didn't even mention Hot Rod amps. Damn it, I just did. I will not pay a huge premium for to have a couple of different components and someone else's name on an amp. I like Clapton, but I couldn't give a ratsass what he does to his amps. Just because it works for Clapton, doesn't mean it will work for me. The whole signature game is a huge money making load. I'll mod my own stuff if I want to, but then again I usually won't buy something and try to make it work later by modding it.

On a different note, I'll probably build one of these amps this winter during some down time.

This amp is true point to point, 5 watts and extremely quiet. A friend of mine just built one and I think it sounds terrific for a little over $200. I'll probably make a small cab for it myself. Guy's, think outside the box, it's more fun than getting into arguments because someone bad mouths a piece of gear you might like.

What do you suppose happens when I show up at a jam or an open-mic night with my 12-watt 2 x 12 Princeton conversion and clean some AC30 or DRRI owner's clock?

They're not happy campers.

FMIC is still showing the MSRP for the Twinolux as $4199.99......

http://www.fender.com/products/clapton/ ... No=8141500

Who's offering them at $2999?

That's certainly a significant price reduction.

And it makes the amp much more competitive against Victoria's "50212" 5E8 clone.
