Indeed, Bill.

There was a tropical island in the Bahamas that had your name on it.

Tough luck, huh......?

Still way overpriced IMO for both those amps. Real 50's Tweeds are in the same price range depending on condition. The originals are a real piece of history, the the reissues. You can build your own or one already built for a bit less.

It looks like the Custom Shop sacrificed the re-issue 5C1 Champ and 5E3 Deluxe to make room within their line for these "EC-inspired" models. And could someone please post a youtube link to any Eric Clapton song from any era in which he used the tremolo effect?

Is a Leslie speaker (Badge) considered tremolo, vibrato, or something else ?

Rotating speaker. It's in a class all by itself. A Leslie get it's sound by mechanically spinning it's horns. Tremolo is electronic. Arjay can more than likely explain it in simpler fashion, but tremolo doesn't come close to a rotating speaker effect IMO. Two very different animals.

The Leslie system mechanically provides a doppler effect via a rotating baffle or "horn" placed in front of a loudspeaker's diaphragm. The human ear sometimes perceives this sound as a "vibrato" but it is not since the audio input signal is not electronically modulated, either in amplitude or frequency.

I understand how a Leslie operates. Tremolo is volume modulation while vibrato is frequency modulation. What sort of "effect" is the Leslie considered to be?

I'm not sure that it matters whether it is the input or output signal that is being modulated. If the brain perceives the sound as a frequency shift (which is what doppler is), I would call it vibrato. In the case of the EC amps, since Leo called vibrato "tremolo" and tremolo "vibrato", I'm not sure what the EC amps are meant to emulate.

EC amps are meant to emulate sheer profits for FMIC from people who believe they will sound like EC if they buy one. Last time I saw EC his Strat tone was seriously thin and anemic. He played great, but his Strat tone left me cold.

I've always wanted a 57 Twin or 59 Bassman or BF Twin Reverb but I have never been a tremolo fan.

Southern Culture on the Skids guitarist/singer Rick Miller is the master of tremolo. SCOTS has some pretty cool music. Kind of like a cross between Rockabilly and Surf music.
