I remember reading where EC would spend all his day in Jim Marshall's Shop playing various amps. Then decided to use that particular Bluesbreaker amp for recording "Beano" album. Anyhow, I've always like another Mayall graduate better. I think he is standing in front of a "TV" era Bassman.

Great pic -- I've never seen that one before!

Marshall's been making signature amps for a while now. It was only a matter of time before Fender followed suit. If I remember right they did a Vibroverb reissue and had Rene Martinez spec it for them not too long ago. You might as well call that a signature amp. And I bet it has better tone than the EC versions, too.

I believe it was Cesar Diáz who was the consulting engineer for the '64 Vibroverb re-issue.

You are correct, sir. I just looked it up and the Custom '64 Vibroverb was designed by Cesar Diaz.

This is probably why I like/play Yamaha musical instruments so much. I got a Yamaha flute when I was 13 (a long time ago, now!), and played a Yamaha horn in high school band.

I also have a Yamaha classical guitar.

My first real electric was a Yamaha, too.

I didn't actually get my first Fender until last week, when I finally bought a real Strat.

Premier Guitar magazine reported on their Facebook site that Fender just announced its first-ever signature amps--the Eric Clapton Twinolux, Eric Clapton Tremolux, and Eric Clapton Vibro-Champ are all based on Slowhand's specifications.

Can't wait to see the details on these...and the prices!

I am fully excited now. Sad, I know.

They have arrived. Only $100 to $200 more than the base amps.

Interesting, but just variations of the low powered twin and tweed tremolux....but with the EC name and that's what the selling point is....any tone chaser could nail the sound of those amps with other cheaper models...we vintage amp freaks already have the original tone.

OK, knock it off, you Buzz Killingtons.

These new amps have some nice features and differences from the originals, like the low-power switch for one. These amps are hand wired, like the originals, and use eyelet boards instead of PCB, have monster transformers. I would think that new production Fender amps, made like they originally were, would be reason for all to rejoice. I recall some members here suggesting that if Fender made amps just like these are made, that they would gladly pay more for a new Fender amp instead of looking elsewhere. :!:

While this amps are really cool amps, there are so many boutique builders out there that make these same amps today at a fraction of the cost of what Fender is charging. That's an aweful lot of money for a basic design amp that has Eric Clapton signing off on it. When's the last time Clapton actually used a real Fender? He doesn't! He using those boutique builders...

I wouldn't dispute this possibility but such a assertion requires some substantiating evidence......

I agree with the building of these amps, which is what they should be...I guess what has gotten me though is that Eric's name has to be the selling point, which shouldn't surprise me in the least.
Fender is a company with such a rich history of building amps that have become the standard by which most others are judged that the Fender model name alone should be the attraction...like Tweed Tremolux or Tweed Twin Reverb, and faithful handwired clones of those.
We had a discussion not long ago in the Vintage amp section where someone asked why there were no Reissued Brownface amps true to the originals...and I think there should be,and affordable to those who would like to own one......but it seems that the nature of the business is to build attractive "Artist models".
