Premier Guitar magazine reported on their Facebook site that Fender just announced its first-ever signature amps--the Eric Clapton Twinolux, Eric Clapton Tremolux, and Eric Clapton Vibro-Champ are all based on Slowhand's specifications.

Can't wait to see the details on these...and the prices!

As much as I like Clapton, I don't think he knows a thing about specing amps.

No, but Cesar Diaz and John Suhr do. I'll be checking 'em out.

According to the article, neither Cesar nor John spec'd the amps. The claim is Clapton did.

I can't "Spec" an amp either but I dang sure know what tones I like...so my guess is he told them what he liked and they built them. But right now it is all conjecture...who knows maybe he does know electronics...

When they built the Tweed Twins for him, they didn't get it quite right the first time and then they used some 20 year old pine for the cabinets and EC was happy with them after that.

I am sure they will be overpriced with ECs name on them.

If the prices being thrown around are somewhat accurate then overpriced is an under statement  Will be interesting to see the actual MSRP.

The most expensive component in any piece of "signature" gear is hype.

You know, my bet is the EC Twinolux is just a tweaked Custom Shop '57 Tweed Twin. Not sure if this is a good direction to go for Fender. Making boutique amps. Certainly pricing this new line out of the range of most young guitarists, today.

Tone matters. It's nice to have the fancy duds. But it don't totally make the woman. Or the amp. In my opinion, at least.
