Id go through the zoom for a better sound. I dont think any damage is likely though.

When you say a power filter, what make and model? A lot of companies call their power strips line conditioners, but don't really filter out noise. I've switched to a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) that takes incoming 120V from the wall and regenerates it as a pure sine wave. This or the Furman AR1215 will get rid of noise; common rackmount power strips don't.

Ebtech Hum Eliminator and their Hum X isolated power transformer are great; I keep both in my gig drawer at all times just in case.

I have one of these that I plug all of my studio stuff into...

I have the two channel hum eliminator between the amps, only using one channel of it though....
