I just took my "The Twin" in for repair/tune-up. The technician seemed to really like this amp and was trying to purchase it from me so I thought that I would look into what it was worth. In my research the only "The Twin" amp I can find info on has red knobs. Mine does not. My amp has an emblem in the front, top, right corner that says "The Twin". According to the manual that came with it, the part number for this amp is 21-6200. Can anyone please give me some info on this and point me in the right direction to find out more about this amp.

Thanks much.

The red-knob "The Twin" was introduced in late 1986 as an '87 model, switching to more traditional black knobs around three years later. Two years after that, the amp was discontinued. Later, the name would be altered to "Twin Amp" (aka the "Evil Twin") and resurrected to be used on a late '90s "Pro Series" design during Bruce Zinky's tenure at Fender. The EIA manufacturer's codes stamped on your amp's trannies and pots will enable you to more precisely pinpoint when it was made.

So, are the red knob and the black knob exactly the same, other than the obvious difference in the color of the knobs?

Apparently, yes.

The grill cloth may also have been changed when the red knobs were discontinued.

I have a 94 The Twin and it came with black knobs also. I had to replace them when I had all new pots installed thanks to UPS so I replaced them with red.

All new pots?

OUCH!

I hope UPS paid the cost for the damage.

Of course not. The old it was packed incorrectly. They cracked the case too. But I had it all repaired and gone over, new tubes and the amp sounds great. Its just sooo darn loud.

Yea it cracked at a seam on the upper corner. Theres a very good guitar and amp repair shop close to me. They did all the repairs for about $280.00. I paid $300.00 for the amp so I wasn,t out to much.
