Hi all!

I have a Hot Rod Deluxe which I've loaded with a Cannabis Rex speaker. I'm now looking to add a 2x12 cab to my rig to beef things up a little, and I'm wondering what speaker combinations work well together. I've played my amp through a friends cab with greenbacks and it sounded great, just want to see what else is good in a closed back cab!

I use an 08 American standard strat with a variety of pedals in the clean channel of my amp to achieve powderfinger, oasis, John Mayer tones!

Thanks!

Regardless of your choice(s), make sure your extension cab is wired for 8Ω impedance.

An 8 ohm ext cab would be best, performance wise. I use the HRDlx 1x12, 8 ohm ext cab with my HRDlx amp's internal speaker, works great and beefs up the sound tremendously (this is 4 ohm total speaker load). This cab is made for this amp, perfect match. Check the amp manual for recommended speaker connections. For example, if you want to use a 2x12 cab by itself, typically 4 ohm, plug it into the amp's ext speaker jack with a dummy plug in the main speaker jack. If you want to use a 2x12 cab with the amp's internal speaker, best to use an 8 ohm cab, which means two 16 ohm speakers in parallel. You can use a 4 ohm 2x12 ext cab with the amp's internal speaker, you just won't get the amp's full power this way (the difference is 2.6 ohm total speaker load vs the normal 4 ohm total speaker load, not that much difference).
